Why the Windows Are Different
These medications stay in the body for a long time — long enough that a weekly schedule keeps levels reasonably steady. The missed dose window reflects how much room there is before taking a late dose would bring the next one too close.
Wegovy uses a different form of the rule because it escalates to higher doses than Ozempic. Rather than counting days since the missed dose, it asks how close the next one is — the concern being two higher doses landing near each other. Same active ingredient, different arithmetic.
If You Have Missed Several Doses in a Row
One missed week is routine. Several in a row is a different situation and worth a call to your prescriber before you restart, because the level in your body has fallen and your tolerance may have fallen with it.
Resuming at the dose you were on after a long gap can feel like starting the medication over — the nausea and appetite suppression of the first weeks, at a much higher dose. - Set a reminder that repeats weekly, not a single alarm you dismiss and forget.
- Log the injection immediately after taking it. "Did I already do it?" is the second most common reason for a missed dose after simply forgetting.
